About Me

J.C. has been designated by the Oklahoma Arts Council as a member of the Oklahoma Touring Artists Roster for FY2009/2010. His is also on the Mid-America Arts Alliance Regional Touring Program for a six-state region as an entertainer. He recently performed a 1-hour show for the Governor of Oklahoma at his mansion grounds.

A former instructor of music at the University of Houston, High Eagle has performed his music around the nation and the world introducing it to a wide genre of places and audiences, and yes, even symphony audiences!

He accomplished 20 performances with the Milwaukee Symphony, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and 19 with the National Symphony Orchestra at the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Here's his home page and music:  http://www.myspace.com/jchigheagle

High Eagle was featured as a composer and musician for soundtrack music to the first three CBS television series, "Walker, Texas Ranger," starring Hollywood actor Chuck Norris.

J.C. was a featured as an actor and musician for 20 stage performances of the Broadway musical, "MAKIN' WHOOPEE!" with great reviews. Also as an actor, he was in the ABC Suspense Movie of the Week, "HOUSTON, WE'VE GOT A PROBLEM", starring Robert Culp, produced by Universal Studios, Hollywood, California.

J. C. High Eagle is a pro member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI). He is a composer, lyricist, musician and entertainer.

As a songwriter, he has 194 registered musical compositions to his credit, has freshly completed a new country CD demo of original songs hoping someone will want to record them. Some of his compositions have been transcribed and performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

The mark of a good songwriter, his music connects with the listener emotionally. He has much appeal because his listeners have been there, identifying with the same feelings, emotions and experiences.

Born in Oklahoma, the heart of country music, J.C. plays on the heart as well as the guitar, presenting his songs and music as he feels from within. For all their simplicity, his music and writing bubble with fresh ideas about things-imaginative ideas about love, humor, a time, a place-things in everyday life of the common man or woman. A committed musician, he brings a new slant to country music with a new twist to old themes.

His music has consistently been reviewed with highest evaluations on the ASCAP Networking web site. You can hear his music at: http://www.myspace.com/jchigheagle

J.C. was awarded the highest civilian honor in the U.S., the Presidential Medal of Freedom, by former President Richard M. Nixon. Bet you would never guess why!

HOLD TIGHT, AMERICA!

When the smell of defeat
Tears at our inner core,
And all signs of sweet victory
Seem vanished as the vapor of
fog below rising sun,
Still, we dare march on?
Not as fallen or
wounded soldiers,
But as brave heroes
Who carry the banner
of love
Held high in wounded hands
And charge the hill
Not as victims on the
battlefield of life,
But as bold and courageous
victors,
Who step aside the strife.

Sometimes scarred and bloody wounded,
love and freedom never really die,
But pass on from heart to heart.
And when downtrodden hearts become
battered and broken,
faith keep them from falling apart.

So, march on, all you lonely hearts
Let love be your victory banner, too!
Whatever you do, do it with God's love?
For His love and faith will carry you through.

I walked through a county courthouse square
On a park bench, an old man was sittin there.
I said, "Your court house is kinda run down,
He said, "No, it will do for our little town".
I said "your old flag pole kinda leaned a little bit,
And that?s a ragged old flag you got hanging on it".

He said "have a seat", so I sat down,
e said, "is this your first time you been to our little town"

I said, "I think it is"
He said "I don?t like to brag, but we?re kinda proud of That Ragged Old Flag"

"You see, we got a little hole in that flag there,
When Washington took it across the Delaware.
It got powder burned the night Francis Scott Key sat watching it, writing "Oh Say Can You See"

It got a bad rip in New Orleans, with Packingham & Jackson tugging at its seams.
It almost fell at the Alamo beside the Texas flag,
But she waved on tho.

It got cut with a sword in Chancellorsville,
Got cut again at Shiloh Hill.
There was Robert E. Lee and Beauregard and Bragg,
And the south wind blew hard on
"That Ragged Old Flag"

On Flanders Field in World War I,
She took a big hole from a Bertha Gun,
She turned blood red in World War II
She hung limp and low a time or two.
She was in Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq.
She went where she was sent by her Uncle Sam.
Some carried her there,
Some never came back.

She waved from our ships upon the briny foam,
And now they've about quit waving her back here at home.

And here in her own good land,
She?s been abused, burned, dishonored, denied and refused,
And the very government for which she stands
Has been scandalized throughout out the land.
And she?s getting thread bare, and she?s wearing thin,
But she?s in pretty good shape, for the shape she?s in.

Cause she?s been through the fire before
and I know, she can take a whole lot more.
So we raise her up every morning
And we bring her down every night,
We don?t let her touch the ground,
And we fold her up right.

On second thought
I do like to brag
Cause I?m mighty proud of
"That Ragged Old Flag"

DON'T FENCE ME IN . . .

Know how you catch 'wild hogs'? You find out where the wild hogs are roaming and feeding and then you put some corn out in the field. Soon they will come and eat the corn. You keep putting out the corn. Soon more wild hogs will join the others and keep coming to eat the corn. After the hogs get used to your free corn, you put up a length of fence along one side of the feeding area. The hogs will get used to it. Then you put up another section of fence at a right angle to the first.

they get used to this, you put up another section of fence at a right angle to that section of fence and you now have a "U" shaped fenced area. Then you put in the last section with a gate in it. You keep giving them free corn. Now, the hogs are no longer out in the fields working to find their own food. They keep coming into the area to eat the free corn. Then one day you slam the gate shut when the hogs are inside the fenced area. The wild hogs are caught. They are your prisoners.

Let me say up front: I am not down on any political party, but I am down on people who do not have America's best interests at heart. I understand that the wild hogs are really the people of his native country, and the free corn was the enticements the Socialists and Communists are giving to the people.

Now the hogs will not get any-thing to eat unless you give them food. You are in control.

They depend on you to feed them, or they will starve. They can't get out into the fields and the forest anymore to find their own food ( You can control everything, even control the music they might want to listen to from commercial radio stations and televsion that don't care about us 'wild hog' entertainers and Indie artists.)

The hogs were so accustomed to having the free corn, that they ignored the building of the fences that would eventually trap them. When the gate slammed shut, it was too late for them to realize what they had been blind to. The free corn was enticing, so effortless to obtain, but eventually the cause of their loss of freedom. The fence had been built and the gate had been shut.

This is what I see happening in America today People are being offered free corn by the government. People are blind to the fences being built around them by the liberals ? the socialists ? and that is what frightens me! Just like it was happening in my homeland.

The American people do not learn from history. And history shows socialism/communism does not work.

I want to slam my fists on the desktop and cry out in a loud voice for all to hear, 'Wake up, America! The fences are being built! Don't you see what is happening to us?

In the agenda of the new Congress governed by the liberal Democrats, there is much 'free' corn being promised to the American people. The entertainment industry is not isolated from 'fence building' also. Same goes for the music industry from those in the minority, those corporate high paid record executives who live in their surrealistic high towers far isolated from the bread and butter folks like us who are tired of their monopoly and control through commercial radio, television and other public media.

In my opinion, we're being fed 'free corn' musically also. I hear the destruction of the country's values being put to music that threatens the very core of decency, and the old fashion truths and values that our soldiers have fought for in this great land. I see it in the movie houses and on TV where 'wild hogs' go to be entertained only to be fed that fighting and killing are acceptable forms of entertainment. There's not one television network (and few programs) who doesn't have someone getting hurt or killed then you turn on the TV and begin to watch. Our 'wild hog' children are getting a steady diet of this also through video games damaging to the psyche! Ever listen intently to words in some of today's rap music? Thank God for country music!

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all gaze into a crystal ball and predict the future with absolute certainty? Can we continue on with massive deficit spending, a $9 trillion national debt, the loss of our manufacturing base and our nation's crumbling social and economic infra-structures?

We must change course if our nation is to survive. I have my own personal views based on my value system and what I believe is right and wrong, but I will confess I am not smart enough to have the answers.

Again, I am not down on any political party nor genre of music, but I am down on people, including record company executives, media and artists who do not have America's best interests and the 'wild hog' American people like me at heart!

The following words were spoken by the late Red Skelton on his television program as he related the story of his teacher, Mr. Laswell, who felt his students had come to think of the Pledge of Allegiance as merely something to recite in class each day.

Now, more than ever, listen to the meaning of these words.

"I've been listening to you boys and girls recite the Pledge of Allegiance all semester

and it seems as though it is becoming monotonous to you.

If I may, may I recite it and try to explain to you the meaning of each word?"

I

me, an individual, a committee of one.

Pledge

dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self pity.

Allegiance

my love and my devotion.

To the flag

our standard, Old Glory, a symbol of freedom. Wherever

she waves, there's respect because your loyalty has given

her a dignity that shouts freedom is everybody's job!

United

that means that we have all come together.

States

individual communities that have united into 48 great states.

Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and

purpose; all divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to

a common purpose, and that's love for country.

And to the republic

a state in which sovereign power is

invested in representatives chosen by the

people to govern. And government is the people

and it's from the people to the leaders, not from

the leaders to the people.

For which it stands, one nation

one nation, meaning "so

blessed by God"

Indivisible

incapable of being divided.

With liberty

which is freedom -- the right of power to live one's

own life without threats, fear or some sort of

retaliation.

And Justice

the principle or quality of dealing fairly with others.

For all

which means, boys and girls, it's as much your

country as it is mine.

***~~**~~***

Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our country

and two words have been added to the pledge of Allegiance...

UNDER GOD

Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said

that is a prayer

and that would be eliminated from schools too?

God Bless America!

VICTORY . . . By J.C. High Eagle
Dedicated to our brave soldiers

When the smell of defeat
Tears at your inner core,
And all signs of sweet victory
Seem vanished as the vapor of
fog below rising sun,
Still dare march on!
Not as a fallen or
wounded soldier,
But as a brave hero
Who carries the banner
of the love of freedom
Held high in wounded hands
And charges the hill
Not as a victim on the
battlefield of life,
But as a bold and courageous
victor,
Who steps aside the strife.

Sometimes scarred and bloody wounded,
freedom never really dies,
But passes on from heart to heart.
And when lonely hearts become
battered and broken,
Freedom keeps them from falling apart.

So, march on, all you hearts
in battle,
Let love of country, family and freedom
be your victory banner, too!
And whatever you do,
do it with courage,
find strength with God's love.
For His love will carry you through.

MY AMERICA
Hold Tight!

By J.C. High Eagle, Osage/Cherokee

Hold tight, America, to the wheel of righteousness
For you are freedom's ship of truth in a lonely sea,
Sailing the uncharted waters of liberty in darkened waters.

Hold tight, America, to your faith. Let it not be as driftwood that surges aimlessly and tossed about by the unpredictable, mindless currents of others adrift.

Hold tight, America, to the Creator that guides and protects you, when the storms of life cause your bow to sway.
Our heavenly beacon that dares pierce the darkness of gloom. Our lighthouse of love to show the way.

Hold tight, America, to the droplets of love sprinkled inside your being, to the love you have, for it is all that is important,
all that you really own, all that is true . . . all that you really are.

Hold tight, America, to your real essence of truth, justice,
respect and individual liberty. For they are the lifepreservers of freedom.

Hold tight, America, to the strengths of honesty and trueness, When the fraility of humanity threatens to toss them to the wind.

Hold tight, America, when all around you eludes and falters in the stormy sea, You will safely ride the surges of inequity.

Hold tight, America, to hope and faith, For failure is fledged by fear, by your permission, not by your fate.

Hold tight, America, to your dreams, For they are the stars by which you navigate. Yield not to the temptation of doubt.

Hold tight, America, to trust as your life raft. For when you do, you will not sink as others around you, while others drown by feeble grips.

You will float the crests of adversity.
You will survive the changes.

Hold tight, America, to your strength and courage,
for you will buoy the tides of fear and regret.
Do it now.
Do it yet.
Do it lest you ere forget.

Hold tight, America, to ballast the blows that
rock your ship to and fro.

Hold tight, America, to the promise that you are
the place where love abides for weary hearts.

May the tidal waves of newness crash upon the shores of your old self, into new challenges, new beginnings for all people.

And, in your voyage, may you dock your vessel upon the beaches of eternal bliss because you chose to navigate the uncharted waters, around sand bars of hate and adversity you chose to miss.

You are our captain, the master of freedom's sail.
United, we stand with you, America, on your deck of FREEDOM!

Sail on, America, undeterred for your voyage will never fail.
