American Veterans Radio was established with Jim & Vicki Lynn's son Stephen in mind. Jim and Stephen didn’t have many things in common but the one thing they did, well let us say, it is the genesis of AVR.

Music had always been a huge part of both men’s lives. Jim had been an ‘On Air Personality” with several radio stations, however, they were not directly in tune with what Jim wanted to pursue. Jim wanted to communicate directly with Stephen in Iraq as well as with his battle buddies. Thus, American Veterans Radio LLC. turned on the switch on August 30, 2009, and hasn’t looked back.

At the time Stephen was serving his first tour of the campaign Operation Iraqi Freedom with the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division 3rd Battalion 3rd Brigade Combat Team out of Fort Hood Texas. He was stationed at Camp Anaconda in Balad, Iraq 40 miles north of Baghdad as a Combat Medic. When AVR hit the power button on that late August night, the soldiers of Camp Anaconda got to hear a small piece of home streaming live from stateside.

Since August 30, 2009, American Veterans Radio has reached the shores of all seven continents and all U.S. states and territories. Matter of fact AVR has been listened to in 184 countries around the world which is approximately 93 percent of the world geographically; wow!

So, the next time you tune into American Veterans Radio WAVR 97.0 db and hear your favorite song playing, by all means, sing along. But also remember one of our nation’s war heroes who was defending our country’s interest in a place so far from home. His name was and is Sgt. Stephen D. Lederle, combat medic with the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division 3rd Battalion 3rd Brigade Combat Team, retired. You can call him Sergeant Lederle, Jim & Vicki will call him their son and inspiration for American Veterans Radio.
